Although creating a custom website may seem like a huge lift for a 1.5 month long project, it saved everyone on the trading cards team a lot of time.
For 2024, we created Canva templates for trading card creation and sent them to teams & players. Even though the templates included instructions & example videos, there were many submissions that required correction (around 10%). The main goal for 2025's website is to eliminate opportunities for user error and to streamline the experience. It has worked out tremendously - less than 2% of submissions required follow-up and correction.
There are many improvements that can be made for 2026 including:
▻ Integrating Amazon S3 to host player photos
▻ Allow users to submitting trading cards directly from the website
▻ Better user interface for cropping and centering photos
▻ More testing across operating systems, devices, and browsers
